Everton boss David Moyes has heaped praise on his players forwhat he has described as a top performance to defeatArsenal. The Blues maintained their 100 per cent record in thePremiership in 2006 with a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Gunnersat Goodison.A James Beattie strike after just 12 minutes proved thedifference on the day.But the performance throughout from the Toffees was deserving ofspecial praise.
Moyes admitted afterwards he could not have asked for more fromhis charges. He told : It was just a really topperformance by the players. It has been coming and it was a bigresult. We have been turned over once or twice by Arsenal, buttoday we put in a big performance and a great result. I think we have always tried to pressurize Arsenal, but ontheir day sometimes you can do that and it doesnt work. Wethought we played well on the opening day of last season and welost 4-1 but today we were at it. We had chances today againstArsenal and we probably limited them to not too manyopportunities.
The manager was also delighted to see Beattie net the winner. Itwas the strikers sixth goal from just eight Premiership startsat Goodison this season. That is an impressive record and Moyes insists it is no lessthan the striker deserves after settling following a difficultstart to life at Goodison.Moyes underlined the spirit currently flowing through the campby revealing.
